Gary Shilling Doesn't See A Housing Boom
Financial analyst and president of A. Gary Shilling & Co., doesn't see a housing boom despite the strong price appreciation we have seen in the past few years.
Mr Shilling believes the current home-ownership rate of 63.9 is in sync with its long-term average of 64.3 and is unlikely to rise much higher given the negative experiences and lost equity many homeowners suffered during the bust. In effect, Mr. Shilling sees housing enter a more mature steady state which reflects housing's long-term trend and is unlikely to return to the go-go days leading up to 2008.
